Here’s a photo that will bring back a few memories for all the DIY buffs out there.
Taken in October 1970, it shows the recently opened Gentleman John Wallpapers store on Bank Street in Bolton which was quickly becoming a firm favourite with home owners.
It offered everything you needed for decorating and the prices displayed in the window are fascinating - a gallon of emulsion paint for 12 shillings (60p) and rolls of wallpaper from 4/11 (around 25p).
Look in the first floor window on the right - they even offered Green Shield stamps. Remember them?
