An appeal has gone out to help trace the family of a man who died in Bolton at the end of last month.

This comes after 78-year-old John Harrison died at his home on Bridgewater Street in Farnworth on Saturday August 31.

Police officers have now appealed to the public for anyone who may know any details about Mr Harrison’s next of kin to come forward.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Do you know the next of kin of a man from Bolton?

“John Harrison, 78, passed away at his address on Bridgewater Street, Farnworth on August 31.

“There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances.”

Police often put out appeals like these to help them trace the relatives of people who have died around the borough before establishing a cause of death.

In UK law, there is no legal definition of “next of kin”, but it is usually understood to be the closest relative, whether a partner, parent, child or sibling.

Once the police have the details that they need, they will be passed along to the Coroner’s Office to allow a full cause of death to be established.

Anyone with any information can call the Coroner’s Office on 0161 856 3485.
