This fascinating photo illustrates how things change.
It was taken in 1953 at Lostock Junction showing the busy railway lines dominated by Crosses and Heaton’s mill.
By November 1966 the station had closed and five years later the mill complex shut down. Both landmarks would disappear as redevelopment of the area saw housing being built.
Little did the photographer who took this picture realise how much the area would change in such a relatively short period of time.
