A county lines drug dealer has been ordered to pay a five-figure sum from his ill-gotten gains to the courts.

Ali Hussain, from Bolton, was said to have played a "managerial" and "organisational" role in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin over the course of almost six months last year.

On September 20 last year, the 36-year-old was arrested at his address on Lonsdale Road where he lived with his wife and their three children. Both crack cocaine and heroin were discovered in his bedroom.

In January this year the Amazon UK worker was imprisoned for three years and nine months at Bolton Crown Court.

The court heard that he made more than 16,000 calls and texts to advertise the drugs to contacts across Greater Manchester.

Sentencing, Recorder Graham Wells said there was "no way" the sentence could have been suspended.

Hussain had previously pleaded guilty to the charges of supplying crack cocaine and heroin and possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin.

On Tuesday, a Proceeds of Crime Act hearing was held at Bolton Crown Court to determine how much money he was required to pay back.

Prosecuting, Emily Calman said: "I am pleased to tell the court an agreement has been reached on the available amount."

She told the court that on a previous occasion, prosecution and defence had agreed that the figure of £91,176.75 was the total benefit of Hussain's crimes.

She added: "An available amount of £23k has been agreed by the parties."

The two sides agreed that he should pay back the available amount within 12 months.

However, Judge Jon Close told counsels that the maximum time in this category had recently been reduced to three months.

Judge Close said: "By agreement of the counsels, the total benefit is £91,176.75 and available is £23k."

He ordered for the payment to be made in full within three months and for the forfeiture and destruction of drug paraphernalia.
