Eagley and Wingates band members will feature in the Octagon Theatre's "Brassed Off" production this month.

The play runs from September 5 to 28, marking the second time Eagley Band has been involved in the production - which is based on the 1996 film, starring Pete Postlethwaite.

This three-month-long venture is a co-production between Keswick, Scarborough, and Bolton's professional theatres.

The main cast remains consistent across almost 100 performances, but bands from each town will accompany the actors, who play brass instruments themselves.

Much like in the 2014 edition, the 2024 production includes players from both the Eagley and Wingates bands of Bolton.

Each evening of the Octagon Theatre engagement will feature around eight members from either the Eagley or Wingates bands, playing in either joint or separate ensembles.

Due to the theatre's Octagon round, full bands from Eagley and Wingates can't participate due to space constraints.

The band, under the guidance of Principal Cornet player Lynsey Hayes, will harmonise as the fictional Grimley Band from Yorkshire.

The lineup for each night will slightly vary, representing either Eagley, Wingates or both.

The production stars Barney Taylor and Hannah Woodward, playing the Ewan McGregor role of Andy, and his love interest Gloria, respectively.

Even before the opening night, the three-week run has seen an incredible reception, with tickets nearly sold out across all performances.
