A newly elected Bolton MP has met with St John Ambulance volunteers and urged people interested in their work to get involved.

Kirith Entwistle, MP for Bolton North East, was invited to meet the volunteers at cadets with the town’s unit last week.

She says that this proved to be a vital opportunity to see for herself the vital work they do and encourage others to contribute as well.

Ms Entwistle said: “I had no idea it was entirely voluntary, and also had no idea how easy it is to use a defibrillator!

“Your volunteers are saving lives up and down the country, whilst providing a home and a community for those who might not otherwise have one.

“If you’re interested in learning more or volunteering, I’d strongly recommend signing up! St John Ambulance teams get to attend an array of events around the country, and you’ll get the chance to meet with people from all backgrounds and all walks of life.

“Looking forward to seeing you all again when we do some first aid training!”

The organisation trains people from all walks of life in first aid techniques.
