An entrepreneur, bestselling author and mother has seen her dedication to helping people with autism honoured with a major award.

Faria Arsh launched the Autism Foundation in Bolton in September last year, drawing on her experience working in special schools and as a single mother to a severely autistic young adult.

Her hard work has paid off after the foundation was honoured with the Best Organisation Award at the London Organisation of Skills Development at Kings College, Cambridge.

A statement said: “The LOSD Awards are among the most prestigious educational awards, highlighting the hard work and dedication of global educators, mentors, and trainers.

“This year, Prof Dr Parin Somani, the founder of LOSD, celebrated and recognised the hard work and commitment of trainers from across the globe, including China and India, at the prestigious Kings College in Cambridge.”

Ms Arsh launched the Autism Foundation in the Mayor’s Parlour at Bolton Town Hall in September last year.

Her book, Toilet Training for Autistic & SEND Children and Adults, has become a best seller several times.

The statement said: “Through this book and the online and in-person training courses she offers through the Autism Foundation, Faria has reached thousands of families globally.

“Her main focus is to train families, professionals and organisations to deal with autistic and disabled people positively and also to teach them to use the toilet independently.

“When someone has autism or learning needs, they do not understand the internal signals of needing to go to the toilet.

“Still, through Faria’s best-selling book, she has not only taught her autistic daughter this skill but has successfully taught hundreds globally.”

It added: “Faria says being a single mum and running an organisation is not easy, but she is determined to help as many autistic people and their caregivers as possible globally.

“Her book has been a best-seller on several occasions, including July and August 2024, a testament to its effectiveness and the trust it has garnered.

“The Autism Training course that Faria has developed has been one of the most successful and well-respected courses by all parents, professionals and organisations.”

Ms Arsh’s hard work and dedication impressed the jurors at the London Organisational Skills Development Awards.

They hope that, as well recognising her achievements, it will also be an inspiration for others to strive for excellence in their respective fields.

Ms Arsh was accompanied by her best friend, Sheena McKellar, who she says has always sported her through all her endeavours.
