A stretcher hike is set to be held in Bolton in support of a UK Armed Forces charity.

IQ Precision Group, based in Bolton, have organised the military stretcher hike in aid of Walking With The Wounded (WWTW) on Saturday, September 7.

The event will see two teams each carrying a 70lb stretcher with 100lb of weight on it, taking on an eight-mile round trip.

The hike will start from the Bolton Wanderers Toughsheet Stadium, ascend the Winter Hill Mast, and finish at George's Lane in Horwich.

Liam Abbott, managing director at IQ Precision Group, said: "The core aim of IQ Precision Group is to help our ex-armed forces have a more nurtured perspective within future employment, providing them with opportunities that cater to their existing attributes learned whilst serving our country.

"We understand just how important these services are and want to do what we can to ensure services like this reach as many veterans as possible, which is why we have chosen to support Walking With The Wounded and the vital work they do."

The group was established in early 2024 and aims to support ex-service personnel with the transition from military to civilian life, particularly through training and employment opportunities.

Aaron Moon, their ambassador, was severely injured in Afghanistan in 2009 when an IED exploded underneath his vehicle.

Tom Grimshaw, relationships manager at WWTW, said: "We are extremely grateful for the support from businesses like IQ Precision Group.

"They share our belief that those who served our country deserve to be supported, and by fundraising on behalf of Walking With The Wounded, they are enabling us to continue our work in helping veterans who need our support."

The leading UK military charity empowers veterans by reigniting their sense of purpose, enabling them to make a positive contribution to their communities and lead independent lives.
