Summer is hardly over but it seems like the countdown to Christmas has started.

For festive products are already on display in some of Bolton’s supermarkets.

In the town centre, both Morrisons and Sainsbury’s have Christmas goods on display.

While the display at Sainsbury’s is limited to some chocolate products, Morrisons has gone all out – with a full Christmas display including Mince Pies, Christmas Puddings, chocolate, shortbread selections, and more.

The Bolton News successfully purchased a pack of six Mince Pies from Morrisons at a price of £1.45, and can confirm the festive treats are ‘delectable,’ in the words of one reporter.

Advent calendars and chocolate selections can also be found at the front of the shop.

The Christmas spirit is more subdued in the town centre’s Sainsbury’s, with a small chocolate display at the rear of the store including Dairy Milk Santas and Snow Balls, among others.

Mince Pies are also being sold in the shop’s bakery section, though the boxes are not overtly Christmas-themed.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Morrisons said: “Retailers often release holiday items early to cater to customers who like to plan ahead for the festive season.”

Although some are not as well prepared.

One said: "Every year the supermarkets begin 'Christmas' earlier than the year before. Never have I seen it in August. Summer is still here and children haven't even gone back to school yet!"

Another posted on X, formerly known as Twitter "Why do people get so upset when they see Christmas stuff in supermarkets early? Like, you don’t have to start buying it."

One person posted: "We need Halloween first it's too early for Christmas."
