Storm Lilian has caused disruption this morning after blocking roads, railway lines, and tram lines throughout the region.
Additionally, heavy damage has been sustained to stalls set up in advance of the Bolton Food and Drink Festival has led to the festival being postponed until Saturday.
Yesterday the festival had been postponed until Friday afternoon following a yellow weather warning issued by the Met Office.
Bolton Council told all of its town centre staff to work from home this morning, while the registrar’s office and One Stop Shop were closed, with residents told not to come in.

Local rail services were also disrupted and blocked, with Clitheroe Line services disrupted due to the severe weather and passengers on all Northern lines advised not to travel.
Those travelling into Bolton using the A666 were also disrupted for hours due to a fallen tree blocking the northbound carriageway.
Traffic could be seen moving again just after 9am, and eyewitnesses snapped a photograph of a van which appeared to be partially destroyed.

Elsewhere in the region, most tram lines were disrupted due to fallen trees and objects blowing into the overhead lines – with just two tram lines running at around 7.30am.
Later, more tram lines reopened but disruption remained across the network beyond 11am.
Additionally, powercuts affected hundreds of homes across Radcliffe and Bury.
Motorways were also disrupted, with two lanes closing on the M6 between Junction 19 and Junction 20 due to a fallen tree, causing more than five miles of congestion and delays.
The A628, which links Greater Manchester with South Yorkshire, was also closed due to the high winds.
National Highways is continuing to advise that drivers of high-sided vehicles, caravans, motorbikes and other vulnerable vehicles should continue to drive with caution.
