It might not look much in this photo taken in 1975 but Blighty’s in Farnworth was one of the most important cabaret clubs in the North West for many years.
Originally Club Monaco, Blighty’s on Chapel Street would welcome some of the biggest names in the entertainment world.
From the 1960s until the 1990s, a night out at Blighty’s was always something to look forward to.
The club - which was originally on two levels - hosted both bands and singers and top comedians.
Among those who came to Farnworth were Slade, the Four Tops, Neil Sedaka, Showaddywaddy and Paper Lace.
Comedians including Bob Monkhouse, Freddie Starr and Tommy Cooper also performed there.
In the 1980s the club was renamed City Lites and TV cameras were there to record a performance by by The Housemartins in 1986 for the show, Hold Tight.
In 1991 a new up-and-coming band The Prodigy played there and in 1992 the TV cameras were back to record The Hitman and Her with Pete Waterman.
The club’s final name was The Pleasuredome but it closed in 1992 after its licence was revoked.
