History was made at a Bolton school when it handed out GCSE results to pupils today.
King's Leadership School opened in Great Lever in 2019 moving into a state of the art school building at the start of this year.
There were plenty of smiles as young people went to collect their results.
Among the success stories were Khaleel Ahmad Chohan who achieved eight 9s and three 8s and Mohammed Rayyan Riaz who gained 14 GCSEs with six of them marked at grade9
In total 346 grade 7-9s achieved among its GCSE cohort - the first year to join the school when it opened in September 2019.
David Crosby, who has been Principal since the school opened, sees the results as a just reward for the determination and efforts of the Year 11s: “It is so pleasing to see the hard work of our students being rewarded with these fantastic results of which they can be so proud.
“As a year group, they achieved 167 Grade 8-9s and 346 Grade 7-9s, and 15 students passed the Further Maths qualification.
“They must be congratulated as they are also the cohort who faced the pressures of being the first to take GCSEs at King’s Bolton and the move into our new building during their last year. The results are a real credit to them and their desire to succeed.”
Another student’s dedication to making up for a missed year due to Covid travel restrictions imposed while visiting Pakistan has seen them achieve 11 GCSEs, including eight Grade 8s and two Grade 9s.
Shehzad Patel is said to be a a student reflecting King Bolton’s ASPIRE values to reach their full potential.
He joined the school with Spanish as his first language being and has achieved 11 GCSEs, including three Grade 9s, four Grade 8s and 3 Grade 7s.
David Crosby concluded: “The last academic year has been one of achievement at King’s Bolton. We moved into our new building, we received a “Good” Ofsted rating, and now, the success of our Year 11s in their GCSEs gives them a strong platform for future success.”
