A scouting group in Bolton will be celebrating its 100th anniversary later this year.

4th Farnworth All Saints has been allowing children to explore their adventurous sides since 1924.

With its Beavers, Cubs and Scouts groups, children from aged six all the way through to 14 can practice bushcraft and experience nature.

The celebration will take place on November 3 this year, celebrating 100 years of the group.

The Mayor of Bolton, Andy Morgan and the Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, Diane Hawkins will be in attendance.

There will also be an open day on the date, where families can see what work the group does.

Rees Gibbons, who has been involved with the group for 50 years, said: "4th Farnworth All Saints scouting group is the only scout group left in the town itself.

"This year it is celebrating its 100th year of continuous scouting. There must be thousands of kids who have gone through the group.

"We will be open to the public after the civic reception so people can see what we have going on."

Rees added: "I have been a member for over 50 years and we are proud of it and we want it to go on for another 100 years!

"There are so many reports of kids going wrong, but the scouts offers them something else.

"We've had over 60 King Scouts, which is the highest award in scouting.

"We want to attract people back into scouting."
