Queues formed outside a new fast food outlet in Middlebrook Retail and Leisure Park today, as the 50th Wingstop opened its doors  - with the first hundred customers getting free food.

The popular chicken chain opened its doors at 11am on Monday as people queued around the building in the hope of being among the first one hundred to get  a choice of free chicken wings or tenders.

The new location is in Unit 22 on Middlebrook Retail Park, making it the fourth Wingstop restaurant located in Greater Manchester,  the second to offer sit-down eating - and the 50th in the UK.

The news comes as the company opens more restaurants across the UK with recent openings including eateries in Leeds, Milton Keynes and Wood Green.

One of those queuing was Jade Rowe: “I love a freebee and have tried it before in Manchester.

“I’m a spice freak, I’m most excited to try the garlic and parmesan chicken.”

Amongst the mouth-watering menu items are boneless wings, chicken tenders, chicken burger and ‘voodoo fries’ with Cajun seasoning, cheese sauce and ranch.

Customers can also customise the flavour of their meal from ten options ranging in spice level from simple ‘Hawaiian’ to ‘Atomic’ which is described on the menu as a ‘haberno fuelled inferno.

For those with a sweet tooth churros are also on the menu and customers can choose between “Oreo or Lotus Biscoff” topping with either a “Sweet Milk or Caramel sauce.”

General manager Fernando Caceres said: “I’m really excited about today the queue is really long already and we are excited to welcome in the first one hundred customers with a choice of free wings or tenders.

“We have been waiting for this moment for two weeks and I’m so excited that we are finally able to open our doors.

“My favourite thing on the menu is the chicken tenders but I think that the wings will be the most popular choice amongst today’s customers.”

Middlebrook Retail Park welcomes seven new openings

Wingstop is the latest food outlet to open in Middlebrook Leisure and Retail Park.

Las Iguanas opened in June with American burger chain, Five Guys opened last year and has already been well received by food lovers.

It is the 15th Five Guys restaurant in the North West and has joined big chains already at Middlebrook including YO! Sushi, Bella Italia, Nando’s, Pizza Hut and TGI Fridays.
