A driver was arrested after police say he tested positive for cocaine and was found with a “large quantity” of suspected Class A drugs.

Officers on patrol in Farnworth ordered a vehicle to pull over after it was "believed to be involved in drug supply".

A "large quantity" of what is thought to have been Class A drugs was found and the driver, a 37-year-old man, reportedly tested positive for cocaine.

The man was arrested and police then searched a house in Little Hulton where they found more suspected drugs and an “extendable baton".

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Sergeant Jeppesen and Sergeant Prudence of the South Neighbourhood Team have sighted a vehicle whilst on patrol in Farnworth believed to be involved in drug supply.

“The vehicle was stopped a short while later and a large quantity of what is believed to be Class A drugs was found as a result of a search under S23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

“A S18(1) house search under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act was then conducted at an address in Little Hulton.
