Students at a Bolton sixth form toasted their A-level success.
Thornleigh Salesian College's young people got their A level results today, August 15, alongside others up and down the country.
They gathered at the sixth form to celebrate their success.
Ed Kirk, Deputy Headteacher at Thornleigh, said: “We are delighted at the success of all of the students.
“We have students going to their universities of choice, securing apprenticeships, doing gap years.
”They’re going off to Warwick, Leeds, Liverpool, Bristol, going across the country.
“Thinking about all the challenges they faced through Covid times as well, it is a testament to them and their resilience.”
He added: “I am proud of the teachers as well, how they have contributed to all their success.”
Holly Simner, aged 18, got an A star and two As.
She said: “I did art, maths and history. I’m very happy.
“I will be doing Architecture at the University of Liverpool.
“I thought I did worse than I actually did, so it has been a nice surprise.”
Joely Roohan, aged 17, got two Bs and a Merit.
She said: “I did graphics, photography and child development.

“I felt they went well, I did how I was expecting.”
Joely will go on a gap year following this and plans to travel around Asia.
Evangeline Kruper, aged 18, got two As and a B.
She said: “I got the B in history and As in sociology and RE.
“I will be doing Ancient History and History at the University of Leeds.
“I thought I had done really badly, but it seems it actually went alright!”
Joseph Halliday, aged 18, got a clean sweep - three A stars.
He said: “I did maths, further maths and physics.
“I was looking to do Maths at the University of Warwick, but I think now I’m going to take a gap year.
“I’m going to work.
“The exams were tough but manageable.”
Noah Unal-Pierre, aged 18, got an A* and two As in his subjects.
He said: “I did biology, chemistry and history.
“I have a history for stressing, but I actually think I coped pretty well in the exams.
“Some questions made me think but there wasn’t anything outrageously hard.”
He will be studying biochemistry at the University of Leeds.
