Students at Bolton School had a day to remember as they celebrated their A-level results.
Young people, parents and staff at Bolton School created a jovial atmosphere as they met on the famous quad to celebrate.
Some had come all the way through school from birth, marking the end of an era.
One quarter came away with all A* or A grades, and two thirds of students received the grades of A*, A or B needed for the best universities. The pass rate was 99 per cent.
Nic Ford, the head of the boys' division, said: "I am really proud of all the boys and their achievements here and it is great to see so many get into their first choices, they have excelled in this set of results overall.
"Such a happy day great to share in with students and parents. Some of these boys have been here since birth, a long time, and it is just a really happy occasion.
"Nothing is going to dampen the excitement here today - though the school does look better in the rain!
"We will see a lot back next year as they come back for the Leavers Dinner, they can pay something back to the school - it is one of the key parts.
He added: "Two have already said they will help out people applying for dentistry that ethos of giving back is really important."
Lynne Kyle, the head of the girls' division, said: "We are really thrilled to see the girls so excited moving on.
"We have had great successes and are delighted to see them going from strength to strength and improving results over and over.
"That is really a testament to students' hard work and the work of our teaching staff and support staff.
"It is still emotional, every year a few tears of excitement are shed. It is thrilling to see these pupils we have nurtured for seven years or more achieving their potential."
Eliot Rigby at Bolton School got the full house - three A stars and a further A star for the EPQ.
Eliot said: “I am really happy, I worked really hard but I am so excited for university and what comes next.
“I did drama and theatre, English literature and religious studies.
“I am going to the University of Leeds to do drama.

“I am really excited, all the facilities are amazing and it is my dream university for drama.
“It was really stressful but the school prepared us all really well.”
Ben Rimmer will study French and Russian at Cambridge.
He said: "I am very happy, it was nice to see at 8am that I got in. I have been doing French and Russian since I was in Year 7 and 8 at school, I really enjoy them and am not sure what I want to do in the future, so I thought I would do what I love most at school, which is languages.
"I got three A stars in French, Russian and Maths. I feel everything went as I expected, I was fairly confident with how I did in the exams.
"But there is always a bit of doubt and I was very relieved today."
