Police have given an update into their investigation into “alleged criminal offences” at Manchester Airport.
This comes after an incident in July when video footage widely circulated on social media showed an officer appearing to kick and stamp on a young man’s head.
More footage emerged several says later showing the lead-up to the incident on July 23, including when two female police officers appear to have been hit to the ground.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “We have submitted a comprehensive file of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service for advice as part of an investigation into a series of alleged criminal offences which saw three police officers injured at Manchester Airport in July.
“GMP Major Incident Team investigators, led by a highly experienced Senior Investigating Officer, have been thoroughly investigating the incident.
“Four men remain on police bail.
“A separate and independent investigation into our officers’ actions, by the Independent Office for Police Conduct, remains ongoing.”
The original video provoked strong reactions across the country when it was widely shared across social media last July.
It showed an officer appearing to kick and stamp on 19-year-old Rochdale man Fahir Amaaz’s head.
This appeared to be as Mr Amaaz and his 25-year-old brother Muhammad Amaad, also from Rochdale, were restrained by officers.
More footage emerged days later which showed the immediate lead-up to the incident on July 23.
This including when two female police officers appear to have been hit to the ground before Mr Amaaz was incapacitated with a Taser.
The initial footage led to protests in Rochdale and Manchester city centre.
