A van that police say was being driven on cloned plates was seized after an early hours chase.

Officers say that the van was seized on Hypatia Street after being abandoned following a chase through Tonge Moor and The Haulgh.

They say that they are now working to try and identify the driver.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “This vehicle has been seized by officers from the Bolton North Neighbourhood Team in the early hours of Tuesday.

“Officers sighted the vehicle on Thicketford Road in Breightmet and it was confirmed to be a clone.

“The vehicle was pursued through Tonge Moor and the Haulgh and was abandoned on Hypatia Street.

“The vehicle has been seized under S165a of the Road Traffic Act and enquiries are ongoing to identify the driver.”

Other kinds of crime and anti-social behaviour on the roads dealt with by police in recent months have included speeding, vehicles theft and drink and drug driving.
