From next Friday, August 23, Northern will allow customers to book their cheapest tickets 12 weeks in advance.
The increase in the booking window for Advance Purchase tickets follows demand from customers wishing to plan their journeys ahead of time.
Next Friday, tickets as far ahead as Friday, November 15 will be available for purchase.
Advance Purchase tickets offer up to 65 per cent off the standard fare, and the further in advance they are booked, the cheaper the fare.
Northern's decision is part of a wider industry move to help customers plan further in advance.
The last time a 12-week booking period was available was before the Covid-19 pandemic, when strict travel restrictions took effect.
More information about Advance Purchase tickets is available at northernrailway.co.uk/tickets/advance.
