The bowling green in Haslam Park was clearly a major attraction for families in the post war years.
This photo, from August 1948 shows the benches around the bowling green occupied by mums with their prams nearby while the gentlemen bowlers got on with their matches.
In the background you can see the chimneys of industrial Bolton.
