This history of the Co-op — including its stamps — will be celebrated at this month's talk organised by the Over Hulton Heritage Group.
The Co-op is still a player in this day of hypermarkets, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Morrisons.
David Lloyd will give a talk on 'The History of Bolton Co-operative Society' tonight, Wednesday, August 14 at 7pm in the Over Hulton Conservative Club.
Admission is £5 and under-14s get in free.
The fully illustrated talk looks at the history of the Co-Op from its beginnings in Rochdale to the national movement it became, with a special look at the development in the Bolton area.
