A garden that’s less than a 20-minute drive from Bolton has been named among the UK’s most beautiful to visit in a list by Country Living.
Introducing the list, it said: “With the warmer weather arriving, it’s the perfect time to start planning how you’ll make the most of the UK’s great outdoors over the coming months.

Country Living said: “The Royal Horticultural Society's long-awaited fifth garden, RHS Garden Bridgewater, is one of the most impressive new heritage gardens, not just in the North of England, but in the whole of the UK.
“Created over 154 acres on the former site of Worsley New Hall, an Elizabethan Mansion in Salford, Greater Manchester, it's the first ever RHS garden to be created in an urban area.
“Highlights include the Weston Walled Garden, one of the UK's largest Victorian walled gardens, alongside extensive landscaped grounds including orchards, woods, meadows and lakes as well as living plant collections and horticultural trials.”

One visitor said: “This place is amazing, great way to leave all the hustle and bustle behind and reconnect with nature. Free admission every Tues for Salford residents. Great facilities.
“Wheelchairs and mobility scooters for hire. Fantastic workshops (see events).
“Plenty of things to see Inc Chinese garden. Beautiful place to enjoy a picnic or have choose something from their restaurant and cafe.”

Another commented: “We drove from West Sussex to visit this new RHS garden and we’re not disappointed it was definitely worth the trip up to visit an absolutely beautiful garden and, considering it’s still quite a new garden it was amazing, the vegetable garden was lovely and even better that they use all the produce in the restaurant.
“I am a lover of Japanese gardens so seeing that was lovely. I can’t wait to go back in a few years to see the changes in the garden.
“The restaurant had a-lot of choice and everything was lovely and fresh. Please do visit if you get the chance. And also lots of child friendly areas to [sic].”
