A Post Office will reopen after months of closure.
Blackrod Post Office had been located inside the Spar convenience store on Black Horse Street, but closed on March 12 this year after its postmaster decided to retire.
This left residents having to travel one-and-a-half miles to the nearest post office in Adlington.

Now, however, the Post Office is set to re-open at the same location on Black Horse Street under new management. It will offer the same services, including banking, postage, and bill payments.
The Post Office will officially open at 1pm on Monday, September 9.
The location will then be open from 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday. It will be closed on Sundays.

The new opening hours are longer than they were before, with the Post Office open from 9am to 4pm under its previous management.
David Hunt, Post Office Network Provision Lead, said: “We are delighted to be restoring Post Office services to Blackrod as we know how important a Post Office is to a community.”
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Bolton West MP Phil Brickell said it was ‘good news’ that the Post Office was reopening, adding that he looked forward to paying a visit.
