An investigation is underway after a stabbing in Kearsley this afternoon — the second attack in the borough in the space of less than 24 hours.
Police were called to Church Road at 3.30pm today, Thursday.
An air ambulance was also scrambled.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 3.30pm this afternoon, Thursday, our officers were called to Church Road in Kearsley to reports of a stabbing.
"A man was found at the scene with injuries and is currently receiving treatment.
"The extent of these injuries suffered are still unclear at this time.
"Detectives are continuing to investigate to establish the full circumstances with no arrests made, but enquiries are ongoing.
"Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident 2,195 of 01/08/2024."
The nearby church was cordoned off with a police officer standing outside, while other officers conducted house to house enquiries as part of their investigation.
One person said: "I saw the helicopter landing at about 4pm, it landed on empty land, and police were already at the church, of course it is shocking to see this.
Another person said: "I saw the police knocking on doors on the street."
Police were called to The Pewfist in Westhoughton at around 11.40pm on Wednesday, July 31.
Residents were woken up in the middle of the night to the sound of a police helicopter as police responded to the incident.
