A Bolton man has been given a suspended sentence for racially abusing a police officer and possessing a knife.
Aaron Grundy, of Belmont Road, Bolton, was sentenced at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on July 18, after he pleaded guilty to possessing a knife on Holcombe Crescent and the racial harassment of a Greater Manchester Police officer.

According to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), Grundy – now aged 40 – was found with a red kitchen knife just before 6pm on Holcombe Crescent on Saturday, September 9, 2023.
As he was being checked into custody at Bolton police station he racially abused a police officer, the CPS confirmed.

Grundy was sentenced to 12 weeks imprisonment, uplifted from eight for racism, which was suspended for a year.
He was also told to complete an alcohol treatment programme and to pay a £154 victim surcharge.
The court also made a forfeiture and destruction order for the knife, the CPS confirmed.
