A Bolton party company is set to make an appearance on a national television program later this year.

LED Glow Party Hire offers a range of products – including digital photobooths to hire, counting Celebrity Big Brother winner David Potts as one of its customers.

TV show’s identity kept under wraps

Now, one of its ‘party tents’ – which allow people to host a nightclub-style party in the comfort of their own garden – is going to appear on a major national television programme in October this year.

Speaking to The Bolton News, company owner Dale Peters said he couldn’t say which TV program the company’s party tent would be appearing in, only that it was ‘massive’ and the producers were keeping it ‘very hush hush’.

A post on the LED Glow Party Hire Facebook page finishes with the sentence “Party Tent, I say I say, Party Tent” – leading some commenters to guess that it may be Coronation Street.

‘It was a massive gamble’

Dale, who lives in Little Lever, started the company a decade ago, originally as something ‘on the side’ as he worked for the BBC in Manchester, getting the idea after someone told him they had hired a hot tub from someone.

“I didn’t even know you could do that, I looked into it a bit and I thought ‘that’s such a good idea,’ and I just basically did it myself and did it better,” Dale explained.

“It just exploded, it went massive – it got to the point where I was hiring hot tubs out all the time,” the 37-year-old added.

After his company started to gain popularity, he quit his job and committed to the idea full-time.

He added: “It started getting to the point where that started overtaking it – I thought: ‘oh my god – I’m doing better from this now than my BBC job.’

“There was like a fork in the road moment where I thought ‘what am I going to do?’

“I eventually left the BBC just because I thought ‘if I don’t leave and I don’t put my full focus and energy into this, I’m going to miss out’.

“It was a massive gamble for me.”

‘It’s so rewarding’

Dale says more people want to hire a party tent for their own garden following the pandemic, rather than booking rooms and going out to town centres.

He added: “It’s literally like someone’s got a night club and dumped it in your back garden, and it’s there for everyone to enjoy. Day-to-day for us that’s what we’re doing, we’re going up and down the north west setting these party tents up for people.

“We’ve got luxurious houses, we’ve got other kinds of houses that maybe aren’t the best – but we do them all.

“It’s just so rewarding when you go – especially if it’s for kids, if you do a kids’ party or something, once we’ve set up we say ‘right, come on, come and have a look.’

“It’s like the grand reveal, you see the kids’ eyes light up and it’s really rewarding.”
