The owners of a new nightclub and bar say they want to "build Bolton back up".

Evolution is the latest nightspot to open on Deansgate adding to the growing night-time economy.

The club is based in the former bookies on the corner of Deansgate and Crown Street, between the Old Three Crowns and Popworld.

Independently run, it will be a family affair managed by father and son duo Dale and Harry Gregory of Kearsley.

It will operate as a bar during the day and as a nightclub in the evening, aimed at the dance music crowd, with music genres including bounce, house, drum and bass and trance among others.

Dale, aged 52, has lived in Bolton all his life, having worked as a doorman and been the landlord of multiple pubs, including the Lever Bridge in Darcy Lever, the Market Hotel in Farnworth and the Railway in Darwen.

Dale said: "It is a family-run business, with me, my son, and my daughter is the head barmaid. We are all in it together.

"We are hoping to build Bolton back up to what it was. We are looking to open from lunchtime, and then on the weekends we'll have later opening hours.

"There is a good nightlife here, but it is just lacking in venues for younger people.

"You can get commercial music in a lot of bars, but we will have three different DJs."

He added: "During the day it will be very nice and welcoming, catered for an older crowd."

Harry, aged 24, said: "And then at around 10pm, 11pm, that's where I come in.

"We will have our DJs, we have had music like bounce, house, drum and bass, clubland, trance, that sort of thing."

Planned for the venue are guest DJs, karaoke, artists and raver tots events.

Dale added: "We just want a nice place for people to come out and drink. Our neighbours have been very supportive.

"We have done three weekends, which have been great, and amazingly well in terms of building it.

"If we are not here, it would just be another empty building and another dark street not being watched."
