Actors will enjoy the red carpet treatment after scooping an impressive 19 nominations for the glittering Bolton Amateur Theatre Awards (BATS).

Tyldesley Little Theatre (TLT)  entire 2023/24 season has been recognised, starting with a popular 1970s farce ‘No Sex Please – We’re British’, which bagged three nods.

The pantomime, 'Hansel and Gretel', sold out in under five hours and scored four nominations despite being staged within a tight 50-day period due to tech glitches.

Moving into 2024, the screenplay 'Two' by Jim Cartwright earned three nominations, followed by another three for the renowned production 'Abigail’s Party'.

The radio stage version of the comedy play 'The Cat and the Canary' garnered the most attention with a whopping six nominations.

The award winners will be revealed during the annual B.A.T.S. dinner at Last Drop Village in August, where TLT is hoping to further increase its collection of certificates and trophies from previous years.

The theatre's upcoming 2024/25 season is set to start in October this year, with full details available on TLT's website.

A spokesman for TLT said: "Tyldesley Little Theatre were amazed and delighted to have received an amazing 19 nominations for their work in amateur drama with every one of their 2023/24 season production receiving recognition.

"The big surprise turned out to be TLT’s production of the ‘radio on the stage’ version of the mystery comedy play ‘The Cat and the Canary’ which broke with convention by being performed on stage as a radio play, complete with vintage studio setting and live sound effects team. This received a huge six nominations."
