A Bolton golfer undertook an impressive feat of completing 72 holes in a single day to raise funds for Parkinson's UK on June 24.

Joshua Polding from Bromley Cross, Bolton performed the challenge at Turton Golf Club in honour of his late uncle, Terry Tuckwood who died on January 17 this year at age 77 after suffering with the condition.

He's so far raised more than £2,200 to support the cause.

Speaking about undertaking the challenge, Joshua said: "My uncle meant so much to me.

"Completing this challenge in his honour was my way of turning loss into action and supporting a cause that is crucial to so many families, including my own."

Supported by his father and six friends, Joshua completed the physically demanding task through fatigue and soreness.

He added: "It was tough, but knowing I was making a difference kept me going.

"The support from my community and loved ones was incredible and fueled my determination to complete all 72 holes.

"I trained hard and stayed focused on the goal.

"Every step and every hole completed was a tribute to my uncle's memory and a step towards supporting Parkinson's UK."

The fundraiser received overwhelming support with many making generous donations.

Joshua said: "I am deeply grateful for the outpouring of support.

"Every contribution brings us closer to advancements in Parkinson's research and supports those affected by this condition."

David Steele, community fundraiser for the North West & Isle of Man at Parkinson’s UK, said: "We applaud Joshua for his remarkable dedication and achievement.

"With more than 40 potential symptoms, Parkinson’s can devastate lives.

"We’ve made huge breakthroughs in the last 50 years, but there is still no cure and current treatments are not good enough."

Joshua intends to remain a dedicated advocate for Parkinson's UK.
