With the summer holidays in full swing, we have broken down five free and cheap things for families to indulge in across the borough, from museums to inflatables.
These places and events are either free or not a significant amount of money to attend, with the dearest ticket costing under £15 and admission to some of these being completely free.
Bolton Library, Museum and Aquarium
Bolton Central Library has lots to entertain children over the school holidays.
It has the museum, including the Egyptology exhibition, the range of books and literature in the library and its aquarium downstairs, and admission is free.
There is also a cafe for parents to have a sit down with a coffee and cake afterwards.

Comic Con Mania - August 3
Rolling into town this Saturday, a variety of pop culture with everything from Marvel, DC and Harry Potter to various anime shows and other fantasy TV and film worlds will hit Bolton Arena.
Paul Blake, Jimmy Vee and Mike Quinn, who have all had roles in Star Wars films, will appear on the day.

Open Air Bounce - until September 1
A favourite for families all over Bolton, Open Air Bounce brings inflatable fun to the town, based at Umberton Farm in Over Hulton.
With 15 different inflatables, including slides, obstacle courses and bouncy castles, it will keep your children happy all day.
Tickets are free for children under 12 months, £9.95 for ages one to three and £12.95 to bounce for ages four and over, including adults. Non-bouncing adults pay £2.50.

The Great Garden Adventure with Shaun the Sheep - July 20 to September 1
Beloved Aardman character Shaun the Sheep is (having) a stint at RHS Bridgewater in Worsley this summer, with fun for all the family.
A range of activities are taking place, with a a mini-musical adventure and interactive storytelling, a welly walk for little explorers and a make your own Shaun model session.
Garden admission applies, but it is free to RHS members and children under five.

Bolton Steam Museum
Based on Mornington Road at the back of the Morrisons, Bolton Steam Museum shows off the relics which powered the town in its industrial heyday.
Although it opens during the week, its signature events are the 'Steamings' it does throughout the year, where residents can see the engines running.
It is holding one such event over the August Bank Holiday weekend, on Sunday 25 and Monday 26. Admission is free but donations are welcome.
