Parking spaces could be marked out in efforts to improve space on a residential street.

The bays will be marked out on Lancaster Avenue in the Claypool area of Horwich

A parking area has been on the street for a number of years, but there have not been any markings in place for separate spaces.

Now, the area could be split into nine bays as per Bolton Council plans.

Ward councillor Ryan Bamforth said: "I was contacted by residents over 12 months ago after the 2023 elections.

"Cllr Victoria Rigby was in contact with the council and put some ideas through. This time they seem to have accepted it which is amazing.

"This is great and it has been needed for a long time.

"Parking in that area and on that junction, there is only one way in and one way out and it is not a wide road."

He added: "Residents have a right to park their cars, and unfortunately people don't always park in a manner appropriate for everyone.

"Now, people will be able to park in the bays and hopefully open up more space."

The works are being funded by the Horwich North area funds.
