A pensioner was taken to hospital after a crash on Sunday morning, emergency services have confirmed.

Firefighters, police and paramedics were called to Bradshaw Road just after 10.15am.

A spokesman for North West Ambulance today confirmed one man, who is in his 80s, was taken to hospital.

Fire crews from Bolton North and Bolton Central stations were called to the scene on Bradshaw Road just after 10.15am after reports of a crash between two vehicles.

A technical rescue unit from Ashton was in attendance and firefighters used cutting gear and other specialist equipment to free a man from his car and make the area safe.

The fire service confirmed the involvement of two vehicles - one which was parked and one being driven which was tipped onto its side by the crash.

Crew were in attendance for just over an hour and the man was taken to hospital by North West Ambulance Service (NWAS). 

An NWAS spokesperson said: "NWAS received a call at 10.10am on July 28 from a passerby who reported a car on its side.

"Paramedics in an ambulance and a car attended to treat a man in his 80s with a leg injury.

"He was taken to Royal Bolton Hospital by ambulance."

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that they attended a "minor road traffic collision" on Bradshaw Road with no injuries reported or arrests made.

The road has now been cleared.

A source said that two vehicles had crashed with one on its side in the middle of the road and one “mangled in a gully” nearby.

The crash is the latest to have taken place on the road. Just over a year ago a woman was taken to hospital following a crash.
