An investment banker from Bolton says he is honoured to have been appointed to a major new role.
Former Mount St Joseph pupil Daanish Hussain, from Farnworth, has already established himself as one of the UK’s most promising investment bankers.
Having already worked for Goldman Sachs and Epic Equity he has now been appointed as non-executive director at UOB International Group.
Mr Hussain said, “I am honoured to join UOB International Group.
“The company has a strong commitment to innovation and growth, and I look forward to contributing to its continued success.
“The UK economy presents both challenges and opportunities, and I look forward to bringing my expertise to the table.”
UOB is ranked as 'Aa1' by Moody's Investors Service and 'AA-' by both S&P Global and Fitch Ratings and has a global network of around 500 bank branches.
These are found across 19 countries in Asia, Europe and North America with a head office in Singapore and banking subsidiaries in China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.
There are also further branches and offices throughout the region.
The company says that it has hired Mr Hussain in a bid to grow its presence in UK and European markets.
They say they chose Mr Hussain, a former corporate finance student at the University of Edinburgh, thanks to his knowledge of the UK economy.
He was also chosen thanks to his involvement in mentoring and community engagement and for his involvement in projects aimed at promoting financial literacy.
Mr Hussain has also spent a lot of time supporting emerging talent in the financial sector and has previously said how he hopes to bring more investment to his hometown of Bolton.

UOB International Group development director Allison Gilbert said: “We are delighted to welcome Daanish.
“His deep understanding of the UK financial landscape, and his strategic vision will be invaluable as he navigates complex global financial markets.”
Ms Gilbert and her colleagues say that appointing someone of Mr Hussain’s experience and abilities shows that they are committed to strong leadership and strategic direction.
They say they look forward seeing the impact he has on their board and on the wider organisation.
