Two men have been arrested on suspicion of breaching a closure order on a caravan park in Bolton.

According to Greater Manchester Police (GMP), the pair are believed to have entered Crompton Lodge caravan park on Hall Lane, on or around July 23.

A closure order, which legally bans access to the land, was put in place until October 3, 2024.

It is a criminal offence to breach the order which carries penalty of either imprisonment for a period of up to six months or an unlimited fine, or both.

Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court ordered the three-month closure because of what Bolton Council and police described as “persistent criminal activity linked to the site.”

During evictions earlier this month, residents at the Moses Gate site were advised that once they left they would not be permitted to return.

They are now appealing the order after a number of them were “forced to leave Bolton.”

GMP shared: “#ARREST | Two males (aged 36 & 40) have been arrested on suspicion of contravening the closure order on Crompton Lodge Caravan Park, Hall Lane.

“Both are believed to have entered the site on or around the 23rd July. The land has had a closure order put in place until 3rd October 2024 by Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court.”
