East Lancashire Railway’s inclusive SEND (special educational needs and disabilities) Santa Specials event is back for the second year on November 23-24.
The railway plans to offer an 80-minute steam journey from Bury to Rawtenstall and back, with attendees being met by festive characters and enjoying music by a brass band.
This year's changes include an extended arrival window, special 'calm' carriages, wheelchair access, and quick exits to ensure everyone's enjoyment.
Children will be given mood cards to indicate their interaction comfort levels with performers, many of whom know British Sign Language (BSL).
Reduced visual stimuli and chaperoned outdoor access are planned to prevent potential overwhelm.
Mike Kelly, chairman of the East Lancashire Railway, said: "Last year we were delighted to bring this inclusive steam experience to so many families who wanted a touch of Christmas magic.
"We are so proud to launch our SEND Special Specials for the second year, back by popular demand.
"We are thrilled that we have created an event that is accessible and enjoyable for SEND families without compromising on our overall experience.
"Tickets are sure to sell out quickly, so make sure you book while you can."
Aboard the train, children can enjoy chocolates and an activity pack, while adults can relish mince pies with a soft drink or a festive tipple.
All kids will receive a gift from Father Christmas.
