The Octagon Theatre is touring Bolton libraries this summer, returning with free family storytelling and creative activities.
The programme, known as the Sharing Stories project, forms part of the Octagon’s three-year community project that commenced in 2022.
By working with families, the Octagon co-designs narrative, artistic and literacy-based offerings particularly for younger audiences.
This initiative visits seven libraries during the summer holidays.
Visitors can expect a reading of popular children’s literature, followed by a lively creative session.
Activities will differ at each venue, including dance, puppetry, and general arts and crafts.
The libraries on the tour are - Central Library, Farnworth Library, Westhoughton Library, Breightmet Library, High Street Library, Little Lever Library, and Horwich Library.
All participants are welcome to attend any number of sessions at the various libraries.
Each location will have a new activity and present a different story, ensuring a unique experience at each library visit.
These sessions, expected to last around 45 minutes each, are free to enter and do not require any booking.
Octagon’s family engagement lead, Taylor Barnes, said: "We are so excited for the return of the Sharing Stories Library Tour for a second year.
"From the success of the first year of our Sharing Stories project, it is now a real highlight of the Octagon's summer family offer.
"With amazing support from our partners Bolton Libraries and Museums, we can't wait to bring lots of magical moments for families to enjoy as we journey across seven libraries in Bolton."
The project forms part of the Octagon’s wider summer family programme, which also includes the return of their annual free Family Festival during the August bank holiday weekend.
This event promises three days jam-packed with indoor and outdoor family activities.
