A school where children get a 'fantastic learning experience' has been marked outstanding again - a grade it has held since 2011.

Prestolee Primary School in Stoneclough achieved the ultimate ranking in all categories, from the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, and personal development, to leadership and management, and early years provision.

Ofsted inspectors found: "Pupils at this school get a fantastic learning experience. From the early years to Year Six pupils succeed in modelling their school’s motto to ‘aim high and be better than you have ever been before.’

"Pupils are happy in school and greet their friends and staff each morning.

"The school has exceptionally high expectations of what pupils can and should achieve. Pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), consistently live up to or exceed these expectations. They achieve remarkably well."

Pupils were found to 'relish every opportunity to learn' and are ' nurtured and cared for by staff'.

"As a result, they flourish academically and personally," reported Ofsted, who found the school provided many enrichment opportunities.

Headteacher, Alex Keane, said: “This achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and collaboration of our entire school community.

“The Ofsted report highlighted our exceptional teaching standards, ambitious curriculum, and the nurturing environment we provide for our pupils.”

Inspectors praised the Stoneclough school for placing reading at the heart of the its curriculum and also said the way that staff skilfully adapt the delivery of the curriculum to meet the needs of pupils with SEND is a real strength of this school.

“Pupils have a well-developed understanding of differences,” the report stated. “They pride themselves on making everyone feel welcome in their school. Pupils, including those who are disadvantaged, benefit from a vast array of activities that are available to nurture their talents and to raise their aspirations.”

Inspectors said: “The school provides staff and leaders with regular, useful training. This helps to ensure that staff support pupils to learn the intended curriculum very well. Staff deliver the curriculum expertly.”

It added: “Over time, pupils develop a deep body of knowledge across a range of subjects. This is reflected in the high-quality work that they produce, and the in-depth discussions that they hold about what they have learned.”

Mrs Kane said: “Our incredible staff have shown unwavering commitment to professional development and innovative teaching methods, inspiring and motivating our pupils every day. Their dedication is truly remarkable.

“The support from parents and guardians has been invaluable. Their involvement in school activities, fundraising efforts, and continuous encouragement have played a crucial role in creating a thriving educational environment. We could not have achieved this without them.

“Finally, yet importantly, our wonderful pupils, their resilience, curiosity, and passion for learning have been a source of pride for all of us. Their achievements, both inside and outside the classroom, are truly inspiring.”
