Drivers in and around Bolton will have National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And one of them is expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing a hold-up of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that three closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M61, from midnight, March 19 to 11.59pm July 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 southbound, J5 to J6 - hard shoulder only for drainage.

• M61, from midnight, March 19 to 11.59pm July 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 southbound, J5 to J6 - hard shoulder only for drainage.

And a further five closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• M61, from 9pm July 23 to 5am July 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 northbound and southbound, J6 to J8 - lane closure for horticulture (cutting and planting).

• M60, from 9pm July 27 to 5am July 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M60 anti-clockwise, junction 16 to junction 15 - lane closure for barriers - permanent.

• M61, from 8pm July 29 to 6am July 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 southbound, J4 to J3 - lane closure for electrical works.

• M61, from 8pm August 1 to 6am August 3, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 southbound, junction 3 - lane closures and slip road closure for communications.

• M61, from 9pm August 1 to 5am August 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 southbound, J5 to J4 - lane closure for drainage on behalf of National Highways.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
