Restaurant goers in Bolton will have their chance to try out a “weird and wonderful” carbonara flavoured ice cream for free this week.
This comes as Italian restaurant chain Bella Italia, which has a branch on The Linkway at Middlebrook, launched the new Carbonara Sundae.
This follows on from National Ice Cream Day on Sunday July 21 and to celebrate the restaurant will be giving away 5,000 vouchers on a first come, first serve basis over this week.
A Bella Italia spokesperson said: "We're thrilled to introduce our Carbonara Sundae, a whimsical twist inspired by our beloved Carbonara.
“To mark the launch of this weird and wonderful dessert, which includes bacon-flavoured bits, and in celebration following on National Ice Cream Day, we are giving away a Carbonara Sundae or two scoops of gelato for a week, inviting everyone to indulge in a taste of Bella Italia.”
Earlier this month the Middlebrook branch of Bella Italia was named as one of the top ten best places to eat in Bolton, according to reviews website TripAdviser.
It is one of around 70 outlets all around the country that are owned by the Big Table Group and which specialise in Italian dishes like pizza and pasta.
The new Carbonara Sundae is an unusual dessert inspired by one of the restaurant's most popular bacon infused pasta dishes.
The ice cream features vanilla gelato drizzled with white chocolate sauce, topped with bacon-flavoured crispies and Oreo biscuit crumbs.

To sample either the new Sunday or a more traditionally flavoured gelato, customers will need to sing up for on of 5,000 vouchers available across the country on a first-come, first-served basis.
Alternative flavours include chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, mint chocolate chip, salted caramel, vegan coconut, vegan vanilla, lemon sorbet, and mango sorbet.
The Carbonara Sunday is estimated to reach a recommended retail price of £7.29, while two scoops of a different gelato flavour will be worth a recommended retail price of £4.79.
