A town centre pub is boarded up today after an explosion ripped through it with the landlord issuing a statement thanking people for their help.
Emergency services were called to The Greyhound Pub in the early hours of Sunday morning after reports of an explosion.
Six fire engines were mobilised to the pub on Deansgate at 5am and the road closed, a closure which remains in place.
The pub released a statement on thanking people for their support.
It stated “A massive thank you to everyone who has supported us and the staff today.
“A massive thank you to my son and his partner who were all there for support even though they needed support as this is their home.
“Thank you for all your lovely messages, telephone calls and thoughts, devastated.”
The explosion blew out the front window and as yet it is clear when the pub will reopen.
Fire crews were on the scene until around 11.30am.
And the following day engineers from Cadent Gas were still working at the scene.
The road remained closed by Bolton Council in both directions outside the pub.
Police have also confirmed there was “no criminality” involved in the incident.

Nick Jerman, Head of Customer Operations, Cadent, said: "As the gas emergency service, and as routine in major incidents like this, we supported the fire service as they dealt with the fire at the pub.
"We checked the local gas network and made sure everything associated with gas is safe, for the teams responding to the emergency and for customers.
"We understand the cause remains under investigation, with nothing at this stage to suggest the local gas network was in any way involved."
Watch manager Phil Hindley at Bolton Central said: "Six fire engines from Bolton Central, Bolton North and Farnworth attended a fire at a pub on Deansgate.
"Six breathing apparatus and multiple hoses were used on scene. No one was involved at the time of the incident.
"Police and ambulance attended and evacuated the area."
On the CAMRA website it states: "Please note this pub is temporarily closed 21/07/2024 and is expected to reopen on or before 01/08/2024."
It added: "Reopening date is subjective."
