"Being a St John Ambulance cadet clearly involves learning first aid but it also develops their personal leadership skills, and how to work as part of a team, all vital skills to get on in life but even more importantly it's a rewarding way to build confidence, and make new friends.
"I also expressed my appreciation to the volunteers and mentors who tirelessly guide and support the Cadets.
"Every volunteer sacrifices their personal time to support and develop not only their own skills but also to nurture and enhance the cadets abilities.
"The cadets and their volunteer leaders commitment to the wellbeing of our community is a shining example of what can be accomplished when we come together with a shared purpose."
