A Bolton man who was placed on the sex offenders register continued to view indecent images of children.

Steven Worrall of  Arthur Street, Little Lever, was given a three year community order for sexual offences in 2019.

But the 31-year-old breached this multiple times and admitted he has a “sexual interest” in teens.

Bolton Crown Court heard he was placed on the sex offenders and made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order which meant he had to register devices and have them monitored.

In May 2021 it emerged he had accessed an application in order to obtain indecent images of children.

The court heard he had committed further breaches later.

In April this year police visited his home.

Naomi Duckworth, prosecuting, said: “He was arrested by police and asked for his phone.

“He was asked by the police whether he had storage space which was hidden.

“He lied to the police and said there was none.

“They  placed it in airplane Mode and found images.

“They also recovered a Nintendo Switch, an Xbox One and Playstation Four.

“He admitted the breach of the sexual harm prevention order for the possession of the Nintendo Switch.”

The device breached the terms of the order as it was internet enabled.

In total there were 240 Category A images of children which included one video, 340 B images and 76 C images.

Worrall appeared in court to be sentenced after admitting possession of Category C Images of children, two breaches of the sexual harm prevention order and an additional count of possessing indecent images of various categories.

Steven Sullivan, defending, said: “It is clear at the age of 31 years of age he has repeated breach of court orders following serious offending.

“The message might come across that he has paid no heed to the community order.

“He would give a different slant on that.

“He has stated in the report that he has a sexual interest in teenage girls.”

But Judge Nicholas Clarke KC said the people involved were younger than teenagers.

Mr Sullivan said: “He has this obsession, he does not seek to escape from that.”

He asked for the court to give Worrall another chance.

But the judge refused to do this.

He said: “You fall to be sentenced for a number of offences, all of which are made more serious as they all together demonstrate a proclivity by you towards the sexual abuse of children.”

He jailed him for 32 months.
