A Bolton bakery shop cooked up a sensation on Saturday when crowds flocked to its latest promotion.
Even before Hunters the Bakers opened its doors at 8.30am, a line of customers was already queuing down Church Road, determined not to miss out on a bargain.
“In total, we had about 200 customers, which is the double the normal footfall for a Saturday,” said Alicia Barlow, the delighted owner of Hunters.
They were all eager to stock up on a range of delicious, high-quality products, which were being sold for just £1.
The first 100 customers also received a £10 voucher to use in August.

It was part of an awareness-raising drive to encourage people to discover just what is available at the street corner shop.
“We were absolutely delighted with the public response,” said Alicia. “It exceeded all expectations.”
Business was so booming that the shop had to remain open an hour longer than usual.
And, but for the fact that stock completely sold out, demand was so great that it could have remained open until midnight.
“The staff were completely exhausted by the end of the day. They worked non-stop and I’m really proud of them,” Alicia said.
So successful was the day – which even attracted customers from as far away as Preston – that Alicia is now planning to hold more events and promotions in the future.
