A woman has been arrested after a man was stabbed in the early hours of this morning.
Police were called to Bickershaw Drive in Walkden at 2.15am today, July 6, to reports of a man with "serious injuries".
Upon arriving, they found that the man, a 48-year-old, had been stabbed. His injuries are not believed to be life changing or threatening.
Since the incident, a 40-year-old woman has been arrested for Section 18 assault, which is grievous bodily harm.
A GMP spokesperson said: "Police were called around 2.15am on Saturday, July 6, to a report of a male with serious injuries following an incident on Bickershaw Drive.
"Emergency services attended and enquiries established a 48-year-old man had been stabbed.
"He was taken to hospital with injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.
"Officers are currently treating this as an isolated incident and do not believe there to be any wider threat to the public."
She added: "A woman, aged 40, has been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault. She remains in custody to be questioned by detectives."
A scene has been in place throughout today in the area, with the areas of Tynesbank and Parsonage Road where they join with Bickershaw Drive being cordoned off.

A blue tent could be seen in place at the entrance of the latter street.
Chief Inspector Darren Whitehead of GMP’s Salford district, said: “Although we have one woman in custody being questioned by detectives, we continue to investigate this incident and our investigation is moving at pace.

“There is currently a scene on Bickershaw Drive and in the surrounding area and we thank the local residents for their support whilst we investigate.

One resident said: “It is all over Facebook.
“I first noticed them at about 9am, it was a heavy police presence.”
He said that the blue tent was there at that point.
He added: “I wasn’t very sure where the incident had happened.
“The loopline had been left open all morning and police were letting vehicles through, but they had to mount the kerb.
“We get nothing like that around here, it is so quiet. Especially since the school closed.”
Referring to the cordon with a tent, another resident said: "I have never seen anything like this before."
