The advertising agency said its application for a digital advertising display would have no harmful impact on the area but, this year, it was refused by the council on the basis it would have a harmful impact on an "radial route" where the other signage is "relatively restrained".

Alight Media Ltd appealed to the Planning Inspectorate and, last week, planning inspector Sarah Manchester ruled in favour of the council.

Ms Manchester said: "There is already signage in the area. However, the signage attached to properties is modest, low key and low level.
