On Thursday voters will head out to put a cross next to the name of the person they want to become their next MP.

The people of Bolton will walk into their local polling station to make that decision. There are a number of locations dotted across the borough that are used as polling stations, usually church halls or community spaces in the heart of constituencies.

In many places, schools act as polling stations and give up space so that people can head in to cast their votes. 

Bolton Council could not confirm which of their schools would be closed, as it is the decision of the individual schools’ leadership teams whether they stay open or not. However, there are a number of schools in the region that are being used as polling stations.
