A former Co-op convenience store could be brought back into use as another store after an application to the council.
The applicant, Pravin Kumar Kalai Mani, applied for an alcohol licence for a Nisa Local on Ainsworth Lane, Tonge Moor, this year.
The former Co-Op convenience store became a theatre school a few years ago when Taylor's Theatre Academy moved to the site. Taylor's Theatre Academy moved out of the site last year leaving it vacant.
If the application to the council is approved by the licensing committee when it meets at the town hall today (Wednesday, July 3) it could be brought back into use as a convenience store as well as a Post Office.

The application said: "The premises at 242-244 Ainsworth Lane, Bolton, [...] is a corner property, prominently positioned on the main road."
The application added: "The area encompasses a mix of commercial properties and residential properties which enables the store to serve the community effectively."
Mr Mani is applying for an alcohol licence to allow alcohol sales for consumption off the premises up to 11pm at night every day of the week.
There is opposition from one resident who wrote to the council out of concern for issues including anti-social behaviour and criminal behaviour but Mr Mani said he would address these issues with conditions such as CCTV and staff training.

The resident said: "This will increase crime as you may be aware this area is the number one area for crime in Bolton. You can check this with the police."
The resident added: "I would like to add within a one-mile radius there are six off-licences which poses the question: 'Is there any need for another one?'"
Taylor's Theatre Academy moved out of the site last year leaving it vacant. The theatre school moved into a site at the junction of Crompton Way and Tonge Moor Road.
The licensing committee meets at the town hall on Wednesday (July 3).
