Fun for everyone is guaranteed this weekend when Bolton Fire Station opens its doors.
The fire station on Moor Lane will hold its annual open day on Saturday, (July 6) with everything from emergency demonstrations, food and drink, bouncy castle for the children — and importantly a chance to meet local firefighters and take away life-saving advice.
The open day is one of the biggest social events on the town's calendar attracting scores of people throughout the day — and a key part of the fire service's work to keep the Bolton community safe.
This year, the big message will be road safety to reduce the number of serious injuries and fatalities on Bolton's roads.
Visitors to the open day, which starts at 10am, can also meet their local police officers, have a look around fire engines and other emergency vehicles, as well as meet the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team.
John Greenhalgh, one of the crew managers on White Watch at Bolton Fire Station said: "There will be plenty going on throughout the day.
"We will have our wildlife vehicles there and the water incident unit.
"There will be a bouncy castle for the children. We will have a number of demonstrations on the day, including rope and ladder demonstrations and also a road traffic collision demonstration."

The exercises are designed to show visitors how the fire service deal with incidents and, particularly with the road traffic demonstrations, highlighting the consequences of not taking care on the roads.
Crew Manager Greenhalgh said that Bolton had the highest number of road traffic collisions that resulted in serious injury or fatalities than any other boroughs in Greater Manchester.
He said: "We are working to reduce the number of road traffic collisions on the roads, and that will be a big take away from the open day along with other information on how people can keep themselves safe.
"We want people to come down and have fun but also find out information which they can take away with them."
The open day goes on until 4pm.
