Police have stepped up patrols at a Bolton park after concerns from local residents.

Officers with Rumworth Neighbourhood Policing team have been visiting in and around Haslam Park due to an increase in reports of off-road bikes.

Earlier this year, The Bolton News reported that people were worried about the damage being done to the park as a result of the bikes

PC Finch has been making regular visits to the area and engaging with members of the public.

He said: “On my last visit I spoke to several members of the public using the park and discussed issues that hadn’t been reported to the Police and the importance of making these reports.

I would encourage anyone who has or experiences any issues within the area to report them to the Neighbourhood Team with descriptions of the bikes and persons using them so I can build up a picture and work to identifying those responsible”

In April the paper reported that off-road bikers are ruining a borough beauty spot and putting wildlife in danger, locals have said.

They say that off-ride bikes are being ridden across the fields, ripping up the soil and rendering it unusable.

An “intelligence led” police unit is cracking down on the scourge of off-road bikers - this means that people will need to report concerns themselves to help prompt action.
